Three killed in road accident in Egypt

CAIRO, Nov 8:  At least three people were killed and 12 others injured in an accident today when a car collided with a microbus in Egypt, a media report said.
The mishap took place on the Sohag-Red Sea road in Sohag governorate, a MENA report said.
The driver of the microbus was driving in a rash manner and collided with the private car killing its driver and his parents. Twelve others were injured in the accident.
Two major accidents claimed at least 28 lives in less than a week.
On Wednesday, a school bus collided with a private vehicle and a wheat truck on the Alexandria agricultural road, killing 18 people and injuring 18 others, mostly students.
On Sunday, 10 Sohag University students in Upper Egypt died in a road accident on Kawamel road.
Following the two accidents, Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi had assigned a specialist council for community development to devise a complete scheme to minimise road accidents.
The government also amended the traffic law, for the second time in six months, putting harsher punishments on violators.
Egypt has one of the world’s highest accident rates because of careless driving, and poor road and vehicle conditions. (PTI)
