The moment we think of white colour, it strikes straight way to our mind for peace and nothing else but only peace, but here when I am discussing about a white coat though it does not directly mean the only peace, it does convey a good health, full of sympathy, a complete satisfaction, mental peace, happiness and second life by the fellows who are wearing this coat and are called Doctors. Yes, I sincerely and very correctly mean it, because a second life is given to us by the Doctors only, The first life given to us by the Almighty God when we come to this world but the second life we do get from a white coat wearing man. So there is nothing wrong to say that if the real God, Who controls the kingdom of the entire universe, said to be living in ‘ The heavens ‘ , the second God, lives with us one earth and we have given him a title of a doctor.
By profession he is a doctor, but he is also a human being . By exhibiting his personal conduct / behaviour and also by giving the affectionate / perfect treatment, which is often, a soothing and result oriented , he wins over the hearts of his patients and of their attendants to an extent that he is worshipped by all of us more than God, that is why we will not be wrong if we, from the core of our heart, call him a living God on earth after all he saves a life and enables the sick and dying man to live another period of his life in a good health., and thus his act surely becomes of a GOD.
The examination, the writing of a prescription or the follow-ups , are very common happenings when a patient visits a doctor, but the polite tone, the affectionate language, the sympathetic words and the strong faith / confidence, a doctor delivers to a patient during the first meeting only , believe me , more than fifty percent of the sufferings of that patient go away only by the touch of such noble hands of a doctor. See the patience of this white coat wearing man, that even after examining hundreds of his patients , he is still calm, cool un-perturbed, un irritated and ever fresh to examine / treat his next serious, badly suffering / critical patient , who has left all his hopes because of the type of disease he / she carries . Hats off to the tolerance of this Godly man/ women, who , in spite of his/ her own personal / domestic/ official problems is still ever green for consoling and giving comforts to others. It is definitely a God’s gifted quality in a doctor because of which, he always happily as well as confidently serves the sick, delivering a positive hope and expresses an encouraging smile even if the concerned patient is in the adverse condition of his disease.
I know the doctors, who have been spending from their own salary, for the expensive treatment of deserving / poor patients and also providing them most essential / costly medicines out of the lots delivered to them as samples by different medical representatives of various companies. Is it not a Godly action by this white coat wearing man ? The pleasure, a doctor gets after his patient gets well , and the amounts of prayer the healing man makes for his this Earthly God, I do not have the words to express, as these things can only be felt in those hidden, neat and clean corners of the heart , which never permit the lips to utter any word.
Though, may be appearing to many, an un-usual happening , but it is a 100 % truth, that before deciding an operation on an anaemic as well as a poor patient , not having any attendant around him, the Surgeon Doctor himself lies down in a blood donating room in the hospital and tells his staff to take out his blood , required to be given to this patient , going to be operated by this surgeon only, and the next day he himself operates the said patient with an everlasting smile on his face. This is nothing but really the highest degree of a professional dedication and an unmatched sympathy from the surgeon to his needy patient. Our eyes automatically bow before such white coat wearing personalities. It is another truth that a Surgeon, when sees his operated patient, well healed up & enjoying an hale and hearty life, derives the world class pleasure coming out of the cheerful looks on the face of his ‘was a patient ‘ and then this Surgeon , prays to Almighty God to bless him with same zeal and dedication so that he could continue his this sacred duty flawlessly.
Apart from doctors, white coat is also worn by Nursing staff, whose services to the entire humanity, are un parallel and highly appreciable . Right from giving injections, cleaning / dressing of wounds, helping doctors during examination of the patients, by keeping close watch on serious patients and for ensuring round the clock follow up actions to each admitted sick person in the concerned ward, extending all help to the patients to feed them, to wash them, to brush them, to coomb them, to dress them , to attend / help them in answering the calls of Nature , to give them consolation and drag them away from the aloofness , to pat and give them company when they are crying alone in the pains , like this , there are endless jobs for the nursing staff , which they perform with a smile on their face and in an untiring manner with only one aim, ‘ to serve the sick and add another feather of achievement on to their head. The most joyful moment in a Nursing profession is , when his / her sick patient walks out of the hospital ward after having been fully recovered , conveying hundreds of thanks to these day and night duty minded people of the hospital, wearing the white coats.
I close up with a request to all the white coat wearing personalities that come what may , let this white coat remain a spotless and pray to the Almighty God, to give us courage and strength to maintain the sanctity of this coat for our thousands generations to come.
