SRINAGAR, Nov 11: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) National General Secretary, Ram Madhav, today called for end to dynasty rule in the State and said the doors of the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, are open for the separatists if they join the national mainstream.
Madhav, who arrived here for two-day visit, earlier made several unofficial visits to Kashmir to work out a strategy for achieving BJP’s ambitious target of 44+ for forming first ever Government in The State.
While speaking to reporters at Party Headquarters, the BJP leader said: “We welcome all to join the efforts of the Prime Minister for the development of Jammu and Kashmir. You give up separatism and come forward, the doors of the Prime Minister are open for you.”
Madhav said that doors of the PM are open for separatists if they join national mainstream. “Through separatism, you are meeting the Prime Minister of Pakistan or its High Commissioner. Come into national mainstream, the doors of your own Prime Minister are open,” he added.
The BJP leader said that the development of the State is very high on the PM’s agenda. “All well-intentioned people, for whom the development of Kashmir was of prime importance, should come forward to join his hands”, he said.
Madhav on his meeting with smaller parities in Kashmir said he met them with a message of development. “On earlier occasions when I came here, I tried to talk to people who would be interested in strengthening the hands of Modi and help to develop Kashmir valley, tourism, and turn Srinagar into a major tourist destination, provide employment to people here, develop economic activity and industrialisation. That was the message with which I came here on the earlier occasions. But now I came here purely for electoral purposes. I have met several people and I don’t want to discuss all that now,” he said.
The BJP leader said the party wants such a Government in the State which can move forward shoulder-to-shoulder with the PM. “We have to rebuild the Valley after the floods and do a lot of work for the rehabilitation of the affected people”, he added.
Madhav said the party is contesting polls in the State on their own and wants end of the dynasty rule of both the NC and PDP. “Be clear that we are contesting the elections on our own. We are contesting on many seats in the State and we hope to win maximum number of them, both in Jammu and Kashmir divisions including Ladakh. The talk of alliances and all will only be after the polls. Our aim is to relieve the State of dynastic rule of both NC and PDP,” he said.
On Sajjad Lone’s meeting with Modi, the BJP leader said:”There was no political discussion between the two. They have discussed the rehabilitation of the flood victims and development of the State as Sajjad Lone himself told media.
Soon after his arrival in Srinagar the BJP leader met the candidates who are contesting from Kashmir. The candidates discussed with him their needs in their constituency and the issues which they are facing at the ground level. The BJP leader asked them to campaign rigorously. He also asked them about which Central leaders they need in their constituencies for campaigning.
District president of Congress party, Mir Mushtaq Nowsheri from Uri, son of former Union Minister of State for Home, Mohammad Maqbool Dar, Khalid Dar joined the BJP in presence of Ram Madhav.
