JAMMU, Nov 13: Chief Minister and National Conference working president Omar Abdullah today took head on its coalition partners the Congress by charging the party with trying to sabotage creation of new Administrative Units in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing public meetings at Surrunda, Dharam and Gool in Gool-Arnas Assembly segment of Reasi district, Omar revealed that the Congress Ministers were not at all interested in creation of new Administrative Units and wanted the issue to be put on back burner.
“I do not want to indulge in divulging their (the Congress Ministers) short comings but their attitude compels me to speak in public to set the records straight which are being unnecessarily distorted by some Congress leaders for petty vote bank politics”, he said and added that Congress was not at all interested in the creation of New Administrative Units and their leaders had told him personally and directly that this was not their priority and the issue could be put to back burner.
Omar said that he had rejected the contention of the Congress Ministers and fulfilled his promise made to the people to bring the Government to their doorsteps. “As such, we have established new Administrative Units in the State at all costs,” he added.
Omar said now when the establishment of these Administrative Units is a reality, “Congress is very much boastful about the decision and wants to take all credit for it and other important measures taken by National Conference led government”.
Omar re-affirmed his party’s commitment for peace, development and political addressing of political issue of Jammu and Kashmir and said that NC is firm on its agenda of achieving peaceful, modern and prosperous State, where youth welfare and economic development will be the buzz word.
“We are firm on our socio-political and economic agenda and would do all possible efforts to realize the goal of peaceful and prosperous Jammu and Kashmir”, he said adding that National Conference has never changed its stance or compromised on the high principals of secular-democratic ethos and inclusive growth and development of the State.
He said that power is not the ultimate goal of National Conference but means to achieve the target of ‘Naya Jammu and Kashmir’.
Omar referred to hundreds of works launched, completed and commissioned in the State during last six years in all the development sectors and mentioned the focus given to the holistic and comprehensive development of backward, hilly and remote areas of the State. He said National Conference would continue its efforts to carry forward the process of development in all areas of the State.
The Chief Minister said that the peaceful atmosphere which the State presently witnesses is due to his government’s efforts and wholehearted support provided by the people in this regard. He said complete and permanent peace is of paramount importance and all of us have to contribute in this direction positively. He asked the people to remain cautious against the elements who want to wedge apart the society on various grounds and flair up sentiments of the people for vote bank politics.
Omar ridiculed the opportunism in politics. He said that parties like PDP have made politics a trade to obtain personal profits out of it. He said other than National Conference no party in the State has any blue print for the holistic development and resolution of political issues in the State.
Omar said that development of backward pockets in the State during last six years received a considerable fillip. He said holistic development plan for the inclusive development was carried forward to reach out all the areas in the State particularly backward pockets. He said the hospitals, schools, ITIs, roads, bridges and other infrastructure ‘which you find in your areas’ besides creation of New Administration Units is because of his Government’s focused attention on the subject.
“Vote National Conference in large numbers and help us continue our strategy to bring prosperity and economic welfare to all areas of the State”, he said and urged the voters to vote National Conference back to power for all round development and political stability of the State.
Speaking on the occasion, National Conference provincial president, Devender Singh Rana cautioned the people about the misleading propaganda let loose by various political parties against National Conference.
“They want to astray you for vote bank politics”, he said asking the people to reject all divisive and propagandist forces and vote wholeheartedly and in large numbers in favour of National Conference candidates. He said Jammu and Kashmir National Conference is the only political party which has representative character and a visionary programme for comprehensive development and permanent peace in the State.
The public meetings were also addressed by National Conference vice president Rattan Lal Gupta, Pradeep Bali and contesting candidate from Gool-Arnas Assembly constituency, Shamshad Shan.
