JAMMU, Nov 14: Acting on a complaint, the State Vigilance Commission has ordered a regular preliminary enquiry into the washing away of and collapse of a portion of 4th Tawi Bridge at Jammu during recent floods.
The complaint, filed before the Commission by one A K Sharma of Bantalab, Jammu, alleged use of sub-standard material in the construction of the bridge and also siphoning of funds meant for the construction.
It has also been alleged that Tehseen Mustafa, the then, CEO ERA and Mehboob Iqbal, the then Commissioner/Secretary to Government, were part of the Contract Committee awarding the contract for huge amount of Rs 140 crores.
The enquiry has also been ordered into the alleged disproportionate assets, possessed by these officers, which as per the complaint includes 2000 kanals of land on Tawi Island adjacent to 4th Tawi bridge, 40 kanals of land and a house at Greater Kailash, Jammu, one plot of land and house at Gandhi Nagar,10 kanals of land and house at Hyderpora, besides, cash and other assets by Tehseen Mustafa and owning of DPS School at Baramula, B Ed College at Delina, BBA College at Rangreth, Steel Fabrication Factory at Jammu, Hot Mix Plant at Kupwara, one house on 10 kanals of land at Rawalpora, one house at Trikuta Nagar and one house on 15 kanals of land at Greater Kailash by Mehboob Iqbal.
