Anganwari workers to stage dharna at Janter Manter on Nov 24

JAMMU, Nov 16: Anganwari workers and helpers would hold a nationwide dharna on November 24, 2014 at Janter Manter in New Delhi in support of their long pending demands.
Addressing a press conference here today, president, Anganwadi Workers Welfare Association (AWWA), Jammu Province, Swarna Choudhary along with general secretary, Neelam Sharma, and leaders of Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh, J&K, Lakshman Ravinder Singh and Ashok Choudhary, disclosed that a nationwide dharna and demonstration of Anganwari workers and helpers under the banner of Akhil Bhartiya Anganwari Workers and Helpers would be held on 24th of this month at Janter Manter in New Delhi to press the Government to fulfill their long pending demands.
They said a large number of Anganwari workers and helpers from all districts and blocks of Jammu Division would participate in the said agitation.
The demands of the Anganwari workers and helpers included declaration of all Anganwari workers and helpers in the Country as Government employees, fixing minimum wages of Rs 15000 per month to Anganwari workers and Rs 10000 per month to Anganwari helpers and timely release of wages.
Their other demands included 100 percent promotions for Anganwari workers as supervisors and helpers as Anganwari workers, introduction of pension scheme, all security benefits including EPF, ESI and holidays as per other Government employees and payment of pending salaries.
The association opposed extension of working hours from four to six hours and demanded that if Anganwari workers were put on election duty then they should be paid TA/DA as per Government employees.
