UDHAMPUR, Nov 18: Independent candidate from Udhampur Constituency Pawan Gupta today addressed an election meeting in village Kaller and appealed the people vote in his favour on December 2 for building the Udhampur of their dreams.
Pawan Gupta expressed his concern over the state of civil works in the city. Criticizing the poor quality of civil structure erected in Subhash Stadium, which collapsed even before finishing, he vowed to use his engineering knowledge and experience for improving the quality and longevity of the physical infrastructural work in Udhampur. Pawan Gupta himself a Civil Engineer from REC Srinagar and who has worked in construction sector for over 30 years reflected on how Udhampur holds vast potential for tourism but promotion of tourism requires pre-existence of quality infrastructure.
He regretted on how the sitting MLA has not been able to utilize the vantage point at which Udhampur strategically sits i.e., at NH-1A and Dhar road which connect the rest of India to Kashmir . He promised to create international quality infrastructure that will put Udhampur on the international map.
Pawan Gupta disclosed that it is unfortunate Udhampur is not on the map of tourism and assured that he will bring the entire district on the map of tourism for the promotion of tourism industry which will help to provide economic security to the youth if voted to represent the people. He also promised to promote Dogra culture through a cultural hub in line with Chauki Dhani in Jaipur to create a USP for Udhampur. This shall be besides cleansing Devika and promoting its holy stature. Further, the history of the town will be promoted through history walks via Manwal, Krimchi, Jaganoo fort, Rani ki Baoli etc. He also conducted addresses in Sayaal and Sateni.
