CHENNAI, Nov 19: In an attempt to enter the Guinness Book of World Records, the Rotary Foundation here has embarked on a ‘My Flag My India’ campaign to 50,000 plus individuals to form the ‘world’s largest human flag.’
“Rotary District 3230 has embarked on this campaign to salute the spirit of our country by getting 50000 Indians to stand together to form the world’s largest human national flag,” a Rotary release here said.
The event will be held at YMCA-Nandanam here on December 7, 2014 where “50000+ Indians will unite to form the World’s Largest National Flag, an event of such scale and magnitude that has never been seen before,” it said.
Rotary District Governor ISAK Nazar was quoted as saying that the initiative ‘will bring together Indians from all walks of life irrespective of religion, caste, and creed for first time in independent India to pay respect to our national identity, the Flag.’
“When you stand there, you just don’t stand alone but (do) in solidarity with millions of Indians,” he was quoted as saying.
The organisers said that they have been getting bulk registrations from educational institutions, corporate firms and IT companies, and so far about 28,000 registrations have been received. (PTI)
