JAMMU, Nov 21: A fierce encounter tonight took place between Army and a group of five militants at Kalsa forests in Bigial Dara area of Poonch district but there were no reports of any casualties on any side.
Reports said a group of five militants sneaked into the Indian territory in Kalsa forests from Khori area of Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK) tonight and tried to intrude inside the Indian territory but they were effectively intercepted by the troops, leading to an encounter.
Reports said after heavy exchange of firing, the troops have reportedly pushed back all five militants to PoK.
“A major infiltration bid by the militants had been thwarted ahead of the Assembly elections,’’ official sources said.
They added that Army, which was maintaining high alert on the LoC, has launched massive search operation in Kalsa and surrounding forests to ensure that no militant managed to sneak into this side.
