inner voice

        Frightful Night
That night heavily it rained,
Damned be the flood it caused.
For I saw a sponge turning into stone,
Nothing could help, neither cry nor moan.
Oh God! Where lies my peace of mind,
Being ill fated where can I find.
O friends! Watch the wounds of the injured man,
Floods washed away all and all ended in vain.
That night, full of misfortunes, seemed to have no end,
My scarred and bruised heart not seemed to be on the mend.
Reality is she fell in love when she was in love,
I became dust and I know not how.
My relationships over, my friends forgotten,
World desolate, dreams shattered and I felt rotten.
Oh God! I am he that aches with love,
I fell on the thorns, save me right now.
They say fault is my own and not her,
Helen is beautiful, loyal and sincere.
Words pierced my heart and I bitterly regretted,
No groan, no moan; I appeared
confident and relaxed.
Darkness disappeared, it dawned bright and warm,
Weather was pleasant and oceans were calm.
The night passed, conscience awakes, my mind is stirred,
Into my heart a ray of hope flickered.
No strangers here, all are my own,
She is back and I am not alone.
At dawn I rose from the bed,
Sighed and smiled that I was not dead.

  My best holidays
Childhood is like a song,
A son that is cherished for long.
It keeps on echoing in our life,
Long after it’s gone.
It’s the time when there are no fears,
And life is devoid of hardships and tears
Life is full of wonders then,
And each one is a lion in his own den.
It’s the time when there are no worries,
And life is like sweet red cherries.
In those days life is a panorama,
And each moment is full of melodrama
In those days fights are not serious,
And everything seems so mysterious.
Childhood is like a rainbow,
The excitement of which
cannot vanish in one go.
Alas! Those were the days
The essence of which I cannot feel today.

THE EPITAPH
I came upon a grave, old and pale
Seemed untouched by humans
Nay there was a trail
On that path, few had trudged
No tree was felled, nor a stone had budged
It was strange, away from the city
And was engrossed in a queer anonymity
Over that grave, sparrows lay
And squirrels were welcome, if they may
The grave had an unusual inscription
“The buried one needs no description
But nonetheless he is described
Contrary to what he had prescribed
He was a poet, a poor chap
And now he is , taking a long nap
Preserving Nature was his biggest mission
It somehow trickled in his every composition
He lived for Nature, for it he did die
In mother earth’s bosom, let him lie”
Seeing that tribute, I gave a sigh
An epiphany just whisked me by
My thoughts were in a tumultuous uproar
Still, a voice came from my heart’s core
Amid that commotion, I realized
How simply was the bard epitomized
Huh! Those false cries, those unfathomable lies
This was certainly a better way to eulogize
