Namdhari XI lifts Sant Gurbaksh Memorial Hockey title

JAMMU, Nov 23: Defeating J&K Police Central Hockey team by (3-1) in the summit clash, Namdhari XI Jeevan Nagar lifted the title trophy of the 2nd Sant Gurbaksh Singh Danna Memorial Hockey Tournament, organized by SARAB Sangat, under the aegis of Hockey J&K at K K Hakhu Astroturf Hockey Stadium, here.
Earlier, the players of both the teams, though showed extraordinary dribbling and defending skills, yet failed to score in the first half of the match, which ended goalless.
However, in the second half Gagandeep Singh of Namdhari Club scored 1st goal in 50th minute and the lead was increased by Bishan Singh of Namdhari Club, who pelted a superb goal in 55th minute.
The lone goal from J&K Police was netted by Jaspreet Singh in 59th minute of the match.
Raman Bhalla, Minister for Sports was the chief guest on the occasion, while JP Singh, IGP was the guest of honour, who distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams on the occasion.
The winners were awarded with a trophy and individual prizes, besides a cash prize of Rs 31, 000, while the runners-up team apart from trophy and individual prizes was presented a cash prize of Rs 21, 000.
The matches were officiated by Satbir Singh, Jagjeet Singh, Joginder Singh, D Singh, Charanjeet Singh,
Dilbir Mehta and G S Bakshi, Tournament Director.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Sant Tejwant Singh ji, Harminder Singh, Rajinder Singh, treasurer Hockey India and Jaswant Singh, Sr vice-president Hockey J&K.
