JAMMU, Nov 25: “There are politicians who are coming to Gandhi Nagar constituency today to ask for your votes. You should ask these political parties and their leaders what they have done for the people of this constituency apart from issuing press notes and giving speeches”, said Minister for Culture, Horticulture and Congress party candidate from Gandhi Nagar constituency Raman Bhalla.
Minister said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir especially Gandhi Nagar constituency need to rise above sectarian division and communal polarisation to give a decisive and inclusive mandate to Congress to ensure equitable development of all regions and sub-regions of the State.
He stated this after inaugurating elections office of Congress party at Nanak Nagar.
“We have to stick together and breach new frontiers of development and progress and be assets for each other. Some of the decisive forces, who are trying to fragment us and divide people for their own political interests are enemies of this State and its future generation”, he said.
Later, Minister also addressed series of public meetings in Sanjay Nagar, Gangyal and Azad Nagar areas of Gandhi Nagar constituency, which were attended by hundreds of Congress party workers, supporters and locals.
He added the Congress sees the upcoming elections as an opportunity to establish new bonding between the communities and regions within the State.
Minister urged upon women voters and youths in particular that development and progress are the main election agendas of his performances and should be compared with his predecessors whom they had rejected repeatedly but re-appears to pursue sinister designed destructive politics.
Highlighting his achievements, Bhalla stated that with commissioning of a number of major water supply schemes in the Gandhi Nagar constituency, people are getting safe and hygienic drinking water, new ration stores have been opened up and the whole constituency, today, is connected through a network of roads and lanes.
Mr Bhalla added that construction of fly over at Vikram Chowk, 6 laning of Satwari to Kunjwani road, modern facilities at cremation grounds, upgradation of schools, opening of new playing fields and Public Health Centres (PHCs) and installation of over two dozen tube-wells are some of the works done during his tenure.
Electrification of number of areas in the constituency was done by getting a number of electric poles and transformers installed and upgraded, Minister said, adding that around 15 schools have been upgraded to high and higher secondary level, which is catering to the needs of thousands of students at their doorsteps and all this happened due to the positive approach, sincerity and dedication of the Congress party towards the people.
He further appealed people to gaze the history of candidate or party before casting their vote as it decides their future for 6 years in J&K.
