JAMMU, July 25: MLA Jammu East Ashok Khajuria inaugurated the Lighting System at the Skating Road, a temporary infrastructure developed by the skaters themselves at Maulana Azad Stadium, here.
Ashok Khajuria donated Rs 1.20 lakh for installing 6 High Mast Lights to help the budding skaters run freely on otherwise dark road during evening session of practicing.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Sudhir Singh, President, Skaters Parents Association, Sunil Sharma, Jasbir Singh, Raman Sharma, Dr Anil Sharma and coaches Madan Khajuria and Kamal.
It is pertinent to mention here that skating is one of the few medal winning sports disciplines in the State which is in need of a permanent infrastructure, so installing lights is a step forward in promoting this sports discipline.
Meanwhile, the skaters and the Skater’s Parents Association have appealed the Minister for Sports RS Chib to help the skaters in honing their skill by constructing a bent-rink in Jammu.
