Like Art 370, AFSPA claim misleading: Cong

JAMMU, Dec 1: Accusing BJP of misleading people with the false promise of revoking AFSPA from Jammu and Kashmir, the Congress party today said that the saffron party is no friend of minorities.
In a statement issued here Congress spokesman, Salman Nizami said that the BJP was taking people for a ride by promising them that there will be no need of AFSPA in Kashmir if they win the ongoing elections. He said that after exposed over their stand on Article 370, the BJP was now trying to hoodwink the people of Kashmir on false promise of AFSPA.
“Abrogation of Article 370 was the major component of the BJP’s manifesto in the Lok Sabha elections and earlier occasions also. However, after coming to power at Centre, they have abandoned the issue. Now, with an eye on Kashmir, the party is trying to take people on ride by promising that AFSPA won’t be needed if they form  Government. People are wise enough to decide about their malicious intentions,” Nizami said.
He further said that BJP always opposed the revocation of AFSPA whenever the issue was raised during the tenure of UPA Government. He said  BJP is not worried about the sufferings of the people, but lust for power.  “BJP is not a secular party, as it projects. It has a communal agenda. Most of the ministers in Prime Minister’s cabinet are tainted. They have a gory past,” the Congress spokesman alleged.
He said that the BJP’s tall claims that Islam will flourish under BJP rule in J&K was totally false. He said  BJP has always considered minorities as their vote banks. “BJP can’t be a well wisher of Muslims or any other minority. It’s the same party that demolished Babri Masjid in Ayodhya. And the Gujarat carnage is known to all.
Lauding the efforts of former Chief Minister and Union Health Minister, Ghulam Nabi Azad, the spokesman said that under the dynamic leadership of Azad, State witnessed a visible change on ground. “Not only developmental works like constructing roads, bridges, schools and colleges happened during Mr Azad ‘s tenure, but people also had a sense of security. He said the people have to reject divisive forces and choose the Government that will lead them to peace and prosperity.
