Inter-College Symposium held

JAMMU, Dec 3: To mark the International Day for persons with disability, an Inter-College Symposium was organized by Special Education Department of MIER College of Education.
The theme of the Symposium was ‘Giving Opportunities to Children with Special Needs (CWSNs) in Regular School: Inclusive Education-Need of the Hour”.
Dr Renu Gupta, Director MIER group of institutions was the chief guest on the occasion.
Dr Adit Gupta, Joint Director MIER, Rohnika Sharma HoD B Ed Special Education and other faculty members of MIER College of Education also graced the occasion.
Dr Gurpreet Kour, Associate Professor GGM Science College, Jammu, Dr Annie Koul and Dr B L Raina were the jury members. Formal welcome address was presented by Rohnika Sharma HoD B.Ed Special Education (MR) Department, MIER.
10 students from various Colleges across Jammu city participated in this Symposium.
The students presented their views on the theme.
Ritu Sharma from GCW Gandhi Nagar clinched the 1st prize, Poulomi Sharma representing MIER College of Education won the 2nd prize , Sonia of GGM Science College secured 3rd position and Ekta from JK college got consolation prize. Certificates were also distributed among the participants.
The chief guest, Dr Renu Gupta, in her address said that every child is unique in his own special way and the teachers and the authorities of the School need to adopt ways and means to suit the needs of special children.
A brief introduction to the course of B Ed. Special Education (MR) was given by Rohnika Sharma, HoD B.Ed. Spl.
Rajendra Praveen, Assistant professor B Ed. Spl. Education presented vote of thanks.
The programme was compeered by Jyoti Sharma, Assistant Professor, MIER College.
