JAMMU, Dec 15: The Department of Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing (DEERS), organized Symposium and Painting competition for the School children of Govt Higher Secondary School Tikri, today.The programme was held under the supervision of Neha Mehta, Environmental Soil Conservationist to create awareness among the students.
Ranjeet Singh, Collector Northern Railway was the chief guest, while Om Prakash Principal Govt Hr Secondary School Tikri was the guest of honour.
In the key note, chief guest gave a brief appraisal to the students regarding current environmental issues including effects of climate change and its mitigation measures.
He advised the students to plant more and more trees in their respective areas, so as to increase green cover and to reduce the hazardous impacts of climate change.
In Symposium, Sheetal Kumari(12th), Sahil Sharma (10th) and Sourabh Sharma(10th) were declared 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively, where as the consolation prize was won by Poonam Rani (12th).
In Painting, Nishali Magotra (12th), Jyoti Sharma (12th) and Pinky Rani (9th) were declared 1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively, where as the consolation prize was won by Anjali Rajput (12th).
The programme was compeered by Pardeep Singh and the vote of thanks presented by Irshad Masoom Mir, Range Officer (Mass Media).
