JAMMU, Dec 18: Terming December 16 attack on Army Public School in Peshawar Pakistan as a handiwork of a perverted brain, Union Minister of Water Resources and fire brand BJP leader, Uma Bharti today said that time has come when the whole world should join hands to weed out terrorism.
Addressing a mammoth election rally in support of BJP candidate at RS Pura today, Bharti asserted that the world will now unite to end the menace of terrorism permanently. “When the menace of terrorism has retuned to haunt the very country that provided safe havens to it, the world will now unite to end this menace permanently,” she added.
She expressed hope that India led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi would lead a global fight against terrorism.
While expressing solidarity with the parents who lost their children in the Peshawar school massacre in Pakistan, Bharti said that the country which provides sanctuary to terrorists was destined to become the target of terrorism.
“Every Indian, every parent is outraged by what happened in Pakistan. Pakistan is a country that provided safe haven to terrorists and now the menace of terrorism has returned to haunt them,” Bharti added.
“Who else can understand the pain of the Pakistani parents as the parents in India have seen and felt this pain… They (terrorists) in India have killed so many innocent children,” she said.
Bharti said that in 1991, terrorists challenged her party to hoist the tri-colour in Srinagar and she had accepted the challenge.
“We went to Lal Chowk on January 26, 1992 and hoisted the tri-colour there. I told Atal Bihari Vajpayee if he would have allowed me I would have loved to hoist the tri-colour in Lahore and Karachi as well,” she added.
She said BJP never believed in communal or caste politics, but it was the only party that fought the elections on the issue of development.
“We were being told that people will reject us, but while other parties fought the elections on caste and religion politics we contested on the issue of development and the people gave us a thumping majority,” she added.
Appealing to the people of Jammu region to vote for BJP candidates in large numbers, she promised that all the genuine problems of the residents of the State would be redressed.
She said that her party was committed to address the problems being faced by the refugees from West Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) as it has always championed their cause.
Making a scathing attack on Congress, she said the Party which was the part of Government in the State for last 12 years will face a complete rout at hustings as it betrayed the people of the State in general and Jammu in particular.
She also accused Congress of misleading the Sikh community and wanted to know that which Party was responsible for anti Sikh riots in 1984. It was BJP which announced a relief for the riot victims and Congress in its rule never tried to give justice to them, she added.
While showing her solidarity with the border people who often get uprooted due to cross border firing, Bharti said that she will take up the issue of launching a special recruitment drive for border youth of the State in Army and para-military forces.
The Union Minister said that she will also take up issue of the people of RS Pura which is the rice bowl of the State with Prime Minister and make all efforts in setting up industrial units here to provide employment opportunities to youth.
Bharti appealed the people to vote for BJP candidate in R S Pura as well as other constituencies to give Party a massive mandate to form the next Government in the State.
The rally was also addressed by Dr Gagan Bhagat and other senior leaders of the Party.
