MGCA, Wave CC log resounding victories

JAMMU, Dec 23: Mayank Goswami Cricket Academy (MGCA) and Wave Cricket Club registered resounding wins over their rivals to advance in the ongoing 2nd Jammu Tawi Premier T20 Cricket Tournament, being organized by Jammu Tawi Cricket Club at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here.
In the first match, MGCA prevailed over YCC Bhaderwah by 11 runs in a close contest. Batting first, Mgca scored 131 runs, with Sahil Lotra, Sahil Mahotra and Surya scoring 29, 27 and 15 runs to the total respectively. Shahroz Malik and Aaqib Malik took 2 wickets each for YCC.
In reply, YCC managed to score 120 runs to lose the match  by 11 runs. Eahul top scored with 43 runs, while Shahroz Malik and Mudassir Sheikh contributed 23 and 13 runs respectively. Ajay took 4 wickets, while Surya claimed 3 wickets for MGCA. Ajay was named man of the match for his superb bowling performance.
In another match, Wave Club scripted a thrilling 2-run win over Kings XI in an exciting contest. Wave Club scored 123 runs. Aman scored 25 runs, while Simran and Deepu contributed 19 and 18 runs respectively. Rawat too 3 and Yogesh 2 wickets for Kings XI.
Kings XI scored 121 runs, thus fell short of just 2 runs from the victory target. Yogesh top scored with 41 runs, while Aditya and Prince contributed 26 and 18 runs respectively. Gagan took 3 wickets, while KD Singh and Sunil Sehgal claimed 2 wickets each. Gagan was declared man of the match.
Earlier, yesterday, in the first match, Rommy Club defeated Strikers XI by 7 wickets in an easy contest.
Earlier, batting first, Strikers XI scored a modest total of 98 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Amit Rathi top scored with 51 runs, while Sachin contributed 16 runs to the total. For Rommy Club, Akash was the pick of the bowlers, who bagged 4 important wickets by conceding 8 runs in his 4 overs, while Raman Dutta claimed 2 wickets and Bansi Lal one.
In reply, Rommy Club reached the target easily in 12.4 overs by losing 3 wickets, thus won the match by 7 wickets. Jaswinder and Puneet Kumar contributed 29 runs each, while Gurjinder chipped in with 15 runs. For Strikers XI, Sanjay, Amit and Rohit claimed one wicket each. Akash Choudhary  was adjudged man of the match.
In another match, Wave Club got better of Union Cricket Club by 52 runs.
Batting first, Wave Club scored a modest total of 130 runs. Gagan, Rimple and Kamalpreet contributed 28, 25 and 24 runs to the total respectively. For Union CC, Rohit and Ripudaman bagged 26 wickets each, while Chandan, Ankul and Sumeet Pal claimed one wicket each.
Union Club, in reply, bundled out for 78 runs to lose the match by 52 runs. Anukul top scored with 38 runs, while Summet Pal contributed 19 runs to the total. For Wave Club, KD Singh took 4 wickets, while Aman claimed 2 wickets.
The matches were officiated by Sandeep Manchanda, Sohail Yousuf, Narseh Kumar, Rajinder Singh, Sant Baksh and Surinder.
