J&K gains 1st innings lead; secures 3 points against Baroda

JAMMU, Dec 24: Jammu and Kashmir secured three crucial points for gaining the first innings lead over Baroda in a drawn Ranji Trophy Group A cricket match at Vadodara today.
Baroda, starting the day at 370 for seven, were all out for 426, 71 runs short of J&K’s first innings total.
The J&K team was in all sorts of trouble in second innings, ending the fourth and final day at 147 for nine. Sagar Mangalorkar was the star bowler for Baroda, taking six wickets for 46 runs.
J&K are now on nine points from three games while Baroda at the bottom with two points from two draws.
Meanwhile, the chairman senior selection committee JKCA, Ashinder Kaul has termed the performance of the state team as outstanding, taking into consideration the adverse conditions created by floods in Jammu and Kashmir. He said due to unavailability of grounds in the State, the Ranji Trophy team had to fly Nagpur for practice purpose before commencement of the tournament, adding that the camp at Nagpur proved fruitful.
