JAMMU, Dec 25: Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) bagged overall trophy in the 12th State Athletic Meet which concluded at Hargobind Bhatnagar Stadium BSF Paloura, here today.
Jaswinder Kour was declared as best women athlete, while Jai Kumar was adjudged best men athlete in the Championship, which was organized by J&K Athletic Association, under the aegis of J&K State Sports Council and J&K Olympic Association.
Mukesh Singh was the chief guest on the valedictory function, who presented medals and souvenirs to the winners and runners-up athletes and also to the officials who made the championship a success.
S Rangil Singh, president, J&K Olympic Association and Athletic Association was the special guest, while prominent among others who were present in the closing function were Prof (Dr) Ashutosh Sharma, general secretary, J&K Olympic Association, Dushyant Sharma, former president, Wrestling Federation of India, Dr Nirmolak Singh, general secretary J&K Boxing Association, Abdul Qayum, Chief Sports Officer, Kuldip Handoo, International Wushu Coach, S Ravinder Singh, general secretary J&K Athletic Association, Vikas Gupta, general secretary J&K Judo Association, Sharat Chander Singh, Tulal Ahmed, Ajay Sharma, treasurer, J&K Athletic Association, Sports Officer BSF, S Sarwatn and Secretary, J&K Athletic Association, H S Chib, former Director Physical Education.
In 200 meters men, Jai Kumar (JKP), Krishna (Jammu) and Amrish Sharma (JKP) bagged gold, silver and bronze medals respectively, while in 4×400 meters relay, The team of Amrish Sharma, Zubair Ahmed, Danish Yusuf and Ramesh Singh (all JKP) clinched gold, while Balvinder Singh, Vishal Singh, Akash Soodan and Daleep Singh (all Jammu) won silver medal and the bronze medal was bagged by Sukhvir Singh, Vishal Kaith, Rajat Saini and Abhinash Singh.
Meanwhile, in 100 meters Under-14 girls, Damini Sharma, Ambika Fayaz and Jessica Kaur bagged gold, silver and bronze respectively, while in 200 meters Under-14 girls, Damini Sharma won gold, Ambika Sharma bagged silver and the bronze medal went to Kalpana.
In shot put Under-14 girls, Amariah, Jessica and Damini Sharma won gold, silver and bronze medal respectively.
The gold medal in 100 meters Under-16 girls went to Alisha Slathia, while the silver was bagged by Amrin Fatima and the bronze medal was won by Amaria Fayaz.
In 200 meters Under-16 girls, Jaspreet Kaur, Sakshi Chauhan and Monika Bisht clinched gold, silver and bronze medals respectively, while in long jump Under-16 girls, Alisha, Sakshi and Monika claimed gold, silver and bronze medals.
