JAMMU, Dec 30: Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Shantmanu today inaugurated winter shelters for flood victims at Majeen Sidhra Jammu where 11 affected families have been provided pre fabricated structures for temporary shelter during winters.
These shelters have been provided as per the State Government decision to provide support to the victims, whose houses have been fully damaged and have no place to stay at safer location.
Similarly, 4 such structures have been inaugurated by SDM Chowki Choura in village Choura to accommodate families affected by the floods.
These affected families can stay in these structures till they construct their own houses with the support from State and Central Governments.
In addition, forty-one families have also been provided accommodation at erstwhile migrant camp of Purkhoo where the existing structures have been renovated and made functional by the PWD. Besides, other families whose houses have been fully damaged have been paid three months rent through their respective SDMs to provide them support during re-construction of their damaged houses.
Others who were present during the inauguration were Deputy Commissioner, Jammu, Chief Engineer, PWD, Supdt. Engineer, PWD, Assistant Commissioner (Revenue) , Tehsildar, Jammu. Local Sarpanch and Pachs were also present during the occasion.
The Divisional Commissioner handed over the keys to the affected families.
