UDHAMPUR, Jan 2: The PHE Employees Association held strong protest demonstration at PHE Complex here under the chairmanship of Som Nath, district president of the Association and senior vice president of Jammu province.
The PHE employees and workers drawn from Chenani, Kud, Patnitop, Sudhmahadev, Latti, Ramnagar, Gagote, Kulwanta, Dudu, Basantgarh, Majalta, Mansar, Thial, Khoon, Panchari, Jib Thathi, Tikri, Muttal, Garhi, Rehmbal and other areas of the district participated in the demonstration.
While addressing Som Nath strongly condemned the attitude of the concerned authorities of PHE Department for not releasing the wages of the workers from 22 to 28 months as also regularization of CP workers and those who have completed five years service, so much so that even the workers who have put in more than 18 years of service have not been regularized. He appealed the next coming Government to fulfill the long pending demands of the workers and asked the employees to be ready for agitation in case the demands were not conceded.
Association general secretary Vijay Kumar while addressing warned the Government that if the wages were not released immediately, the employees will have no option other than to start “No wages-no work” agitation.
Other demands reiterated in the meeting pertained to over-coming the shortage of staff; Change of designation as per nature of job being performed by them; Enhancement of wage rate to Rs 400 per day; Immediate release of pending DA installments and settlement of the GP Fund cases.
Others who also spoke were Vijay Sharma, Rattan Singh,Suraj Parkash, Baldev Raj (District president Reasi), Makhan Chand, Jagdish Magotra, Krishan Chand, Chuni Lal, Subash Chander, Rajinder Kumar, Kuldeep Kumar, Shiv Lal, Ved Parkash, Rakesh Kumar, Janait Ali, Raj Kumar etc.
