J&K Forest crush Young Rovers, register berth in semis

JAMMU, Jan 5: J&K Forest registered a resounding win over Young Rovers Football Club in the last quarterfinal match by two goals to zero and became fourth and last contender to register berth in the semifinal round of the ongoing XXIII State Football Championship, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) at GGM Science College football ground here today.
Earlier, J&K Bank XI defeated DFA Baramulla, Lone Star Kashmir FC crushed the last year winner of the 22nd State Football Championship J&K Police XI and DFA Srinagar trounced AG’s Office XI in their respective quarterfinal matches and sailed into the semis of the ongoing Championship.
In the first half of the last quarterfinal match, the players of J&K Forest registered a resounding win over Young Rovers Football Club were playing passionately and restrained each other to score goal and raise the scoreboard.
However, in a break through Bilal of J&K Forest after finding a gap netted the goal in the 28th minute of the first half and raised the lead on the opponent team by 1-0 goal.
The players of Young Rovers Football Club strived hard to equalize the scorecard but failed and the first half ended with 1-0 goal.
In the second half, players of Young Rovers Football Club started playing man to man marking game and restricted the players of J&K Forest to score another goal for around 15 minutes.
The enthusiastic player of J&K Forest Ashiq with his excellent footwork and sense of playing scored the goal in the 44th minute and brought the opponent Young Rovers Football Club team under pressure of 2-0 goals.
The man to man marking game by the Young Rovers Football Club failed to show any good results, which in other words proved beneficial for the J&K Forest team, which entered into the semis of the Championship by winning the fourth and last quarterfinal match by straight two goals to zero.
In tomorrow’s fixture, Lone Star Kashmir Football Club will lock horns with DFA Srinagar XI in the first semis and J&K Bank XI will clash with J&K Forest XI in the second semifinal match.
