JAMMU, Jan 8: Mantra of Good Health was released by the Union Minister of State in PMO with independent charge of North Eastern States, Dr Jitendra Singh at a simple but impressive function here today.
Authored by Dr G K Gupta former Deputy Director, Indian Institute of Integrated Medicines (IIIM), the book is a complete health guide for a family.
The function was organised by Samprati an organization of Writers in Exile in collaboration with Utpal Publications, New Delhi. Dr Jitendra Singh was the chief guest on the occasion while, Dr R L Bhat president, Samprati and a well known writer was guest of honour. President Panun Kashmir Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, Dr Roshan Saraf and ex advocate general, R S Jamwal besides the author were also on dais.
A galaxy of writers and scholars attended the function. The Utpal Publications was represented by Surinder Nath Koul on the occasion.
Dr Jitendra Singh who had also written foreward of the book highly acclaimed it and said that he is hopeful that it will be understood by readers easily. He said book deals with various aspects of how to keep diseases at bay and how to live a long and healthy life. It deals with various aspects which affect ones health such as smoking, drinking and other bad habits. It also tells about in detail about the advantage of yoga, good habits and walk and Pranayam.
He said the book will work as a rejoinder to those who left smoking. One more inspiration from this book is that there are more pensioners in India today than working people and India spends more on pension than on salaries as the life span has increased.
Now people live a retired life for more period than their service period and the book can help them how to live this period. The people who want to make compromises with life after retirement can use Dr Gupt’s book as an example, he added.
Dr Singh said instead of becoming a liability on children one can opt for an active way to spend his retired life.
While stressing on publicity of the book, Dr Singh said being a health related book, it does not need more publicity as people are attracted to it because health related book is always relevant. He said whether author survives or not but the books survives always.
Dr R L Bhat while appreciating the efforts of Dr Gupta said the book can serve as a best guide for people how to maintain a good health. He said such books are more relevant in this fast life when people are facing the problems due to change in life style and eating habits.
Dr G K Gupta also spoke on the occasion and said that the book is a complete health guide for a family. The book is based on scientific principles, he added.
Advocate R S Jamwal and Dr Roshan Saraf also spoke on the occasion and hailed the efforts of Dr Gupta.
