NSF demands ban on ‘Messenger of God’

JAMMU, Jan 8: Jammu and Kashmir National Sikh Front (NSF) has demanded ban on film Messenger of God.
While talking to reporters here, today Front chairman, S Virenderjit Singh along with its president S Kulwant Singh Bhatti, S Gurdyal Singh Bali vice president and Paramjit Singh another representative said that the movie has been banned in Australia soon after the protest.
Virnderjit Singh said that the Jathedar of Akal Takht Giani Gurbachan Singh has also written a letter to Union Government seeking ban on the film. The Front has also written a letter to Information and Broadcasting Minister and Central Censor Board demanding ban on the movie and the Front also appeals the J&K Government to ban the film.
Mr Singh said if the film is released it will hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community at large because the hero of the movie Baba Gurmeet Singh Ram Rahim was earlier involved into a controversy over depicting himself as “Shri Guru Gobind Singh Ji the 10th Sikh Guru in a scene where he was seen in a dress similar to the great Sikh Guru. This way he has insulted the entire Sikh community, Singh added.
He also appealed the cinema owners in Jammu not to screen the picture in their theatres in the larger interests of Sikh community as movie hurts their religious sentiments.
