JAMMU, Jan 8: Fifth Police Martyrs Memorial North Zone Inter Club T-20 Cricket Championship will be held at district Kathua from January 11.
This was disclosed by DIG, Jammu-Kathua range Shakeel Ahmed Beig during a press conference here today. He was accompanied by Ashok Sharma SSP PCR Jammu, Pawan Parihar SSP Kathua, Rakesh Singh and Davinder Singh from Shaheed Welfare Committee, Kathua.
Beig stated that the tournament is being jointly organized by the J&K Police and Shaheed Welfare Committee Kathua in the memory of Shaheed DySP Manjeet Singh and other brave hearts of J&K Police, who made supreme sacrifices by laying down their lives for the sake of nation.
He added that the family members of the martyrs of J&K Police are special invitees on this occasion and will be honoured.
“The inaugural match of the tournament shall be played on January 11 and Rajesh Kumar, IGP Jammu Zone will be the chief guest. The closing ceremony shall be held on 2nd week of February 2015 and K Rajendra, Director General of Police (DGP), J&K shall be the chief guest on the occasion”, DIG Jammu informed.
DIG Jammu also said that a total of 28 teams from within and outside J&K State are participating in this championship.
“This championship is one of the best championships organized in North Zone. National, International and Ranji Trophy players will take part in this tournament”, Beig added.
He said that the funds for the championship are being provided by PHQ J&K under Civic Action Programme and the sponsor by Chenab Textile Mill, Brick Kiln Association, Satyam Cements and TMT Saria, Stone Crusher Association, Industrial Unit Association, Kohinoor Rubbers and Jackson Industries.
“The winner of the title trophy will be awarded Rs 2.50 lakh with trophy and the Runner-up team will be awarded Rs 1.50 lakh with trophy. The man of the series will get Wagon R Car and the best batsman, best bowler and man of the match of the summit clash will get Rs 21,000 with trophy each. Besides other attractive prizes for players of winning and runner-up teams will also be given”, DIG Jammu stated.
