JAMMU, Jan 13: Reacting to the controversy on the settlement of West Pakistan Refugees (WPRs) between Kashmir based leadership and Jammu based leaders, former state president and senior leader of BSP, Tulsi Dass Langeh said that under such circumstances, the only solution to this complex issue and various other issues is trifurcation of the State.
He expressed serious concern over the stand taken by the Hurriyat leaders, top brass of NC and PDP against the settlement of West Pakistan refugees whose third generation is passing through miseries for want of citizenship rights, though the period of 67 years has been elapsed.
Langeh said as per international law, the person born in a country can get the citizenship rights of that country in which he borns. Moreover, the persons who left the State at the time of partition of the country in 1947 and settled in Pakistan got the citizenship of Pakistan and ownership rights of land and houses they occupied there but the local allottees of Custodian land and tenants of houses of custodian evacuee property have not been granted ownership rights till date, which is a great injustice with them.
He said only solution to this issue and other related issues, is trifurcation of the State. He demanded that Jammu and Kashmir regions be given as separate Statehood status and Ladakh region be given as UT status, so that all these issues could be settled once for all and all the three regions could progress leaps and bounds.
