Light rains in city, schedule of 60 trains disrupted

NEW DELHI : Light rains in the morning added to the winter chill in the national capital even as schedule of 60 trains and six flights were disrupted due to poor visibility.
According to the MeT department, the minimum temperature was recorded at 11 degrees Celsius, which was three notches above normal and seven points higher then yesterday’s 4 degrees Celsius which was the lowest for this season.
The city received 0.5 mm of rain till 8:30 in the morning while humidity levels were recorded at 90 per cent.
Weatherman has predicted possibility of further light rains and thunderstorms in some parts of the city during the later part of the day.
Six flights were delayed due to poor visibility at the airport here this morning. Airport authorities had to cancel three flights because of bad weather or poor visibility at their destinations.
As many as 56 trains were running late by several hours including almost all Rajdhani trains coming from Kolkatta, Bhubaneshwar, Ranchi among others. Other prominent north-bound trains which were delayed included Lucknow Mail, Punjab Mail, Bhopal Express, Chhattisgarh Express and Kanpur Shatabdi, said a Northern Railway spokesperson.
“Three trains have to be cancelled due to bad weather,” he said.
The maximum temperature may hover around 17 degrees Celsius today. (AGENCIES)
