JAMMU, Jan 15: J&K tennis player and student of CLTA Chandigarh Prinkle Singh entered into the quarterfinal round of first leg in “Road to Wimbeldon Tournament” held at South Club, Kolkata. Singh entered into the quarterfinal round under 14 singles category.
Prinkle Singh is top-seeded player of the tournament at Kolkata whereas Shivani Ameneni of Hyderabad is placed at 2nd.
The first round was won by Prinkle Singh, whereas in second round Prinkle Singh defeated Anaya of West Bengal.
In pre-quarterfinal round, Prinkle Singh smashed Bhakti B Parwani of Gujarat by 6-0 and 6-1 score and reached quarterfinal of the first leg.
In pre-quarterfinal of doubles under-14, Prinkle Singh and Deedeepya of Andhra Pradesh defeated Rahat Mangat of Chandigarh and Aheer Salsa of Maharashtra by 6-0 and 6-0 sets.
The second leg will be held at Chandigarh on January 19, whileas third leg on February 2 at New Delhi, fourth leg on February 9 and top 16 players will be selected for final round to be held at New Delhi in the month of April.
Two finalists in both girls and boys sections will be selected to play Junior Wimbeldon to be held at London in the month of August.
