JAMMU, Jan 20: A delegation from Kargil comprising Asgar Ali Karbalai, Chief Executive Councilor, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Kargil, former Minister Haji Nissar Ali and former MLA Ghulam Raza today called on Governor N N Vohra at Raj Bhavan here today.
The delegation apprised the Governor about the landslide which has created an artificial lake on river Phuktal in Zanskar Sub-Division of Ladakh due to the blockage of the river flow. They informed that as a precautionary measure the movement of locals as well as tourist on the Chadar Trek has been stopped.
The Governor informed Chairman LAHDC that this matter was being closely watched and the Army was also in the picture for timely and necessary remedial measures.
The delegation informed the Governor about the serious difficulties being faced by them on account of non release of Annual Plan 2014-15 allocations. The Governor spoke, in this regard, to the Planning Secretary and the Finance Secretary, both of whom undertook to take necessary action. The Governor emphasized the need for a harmonious prioritization of tourism related infrastructure projects in the entire Ladakh region.
The delegation also demanded early release of balance K Oil quota as per the requisition projected, funds for smooth functioning of DG sets in Kargil, State matching share for the command area development project from State Sector Plan and early start of heli services to Zanskar on weekly basis.
