JAMMU, Jan 20: Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation Kiran Wattal today placed five employees of Sanitation Wing under suspension for dereliction of their duties during his surprise visit to Kanak Mandi, Partap Garh and Lakhdatta Bazar.
During his visit the Commissioner found that the area was in a dirty condition and he had also received various complaints about the same from the representatives of the area.
Mr Wattal also issued directives to Health Officer who accompanied him during his visit to ensure cleanliness in the area and was asked to pay periodic visits to attend the grievances of general public.
President, Chamber of Commerce, President, Kanak Mandi and other members were also present during the drive. Commissioner, JMC also appealed to general public to help Jammu Municipal Corporation in maintaining proper sanitation in their respective areas.
Meanwhile the Chief Enforcement Officers of JMC along with field staff of Enforcement Wing on the directives of Mr Wattal undertook an extensive anti-encroachment drive with the help of police from Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu and force from DPL to demolish the unauthorized construction.
During the drive, structures being raised at 2nd floor at Main Road Bagh-e-Bahu, Jammu, temporary structure erected by encroaching upon Government land for the sale of shoes at Narwal Bye Pass Road, Jammu, the wall being raised upon projection at Sec No. 14 Nanak Nagar Jammu was demolished. Besides, the team also lifted nine reharies which were license causing obstruction to the free flow of the traffic at B.R. Ambedkar Chowk. Jammu.
The JMC also destroyed 4503 ltrs of Go Brand Milk lifted from the premises of M/s Best Price Wall Mart India Pvt Ltd Akhnoor Road and M/s Parag Milk Foods Pvt Ltd Akali Kour Singh Nagar Digiana, near here in the month of August last year on the directives of court which ordered that the seized product being of perishable nature bad also not safe for the consumers be destroyed.
The seized products were destroyed in presence of Executive Magistrate and local media.
The Food Analyst in its report on September 20 reported that the samples were misbranded and accordingly the prosecution was launched in court of law, a JMC handout issued here today said.
