KARGIL, Jan 21: The final of the 8th CEC Cup Ice Hockey Tournament was played between Ice Hockey Champion Team of Kargil City Club Drass and Nindum Khangral, wherein the former registered victory by two goals to nil (2-0) to win the Championship 5th time in a row.
On this occasion, the Executive Councillor for CA & PD and Rural Department LAHDC Kargil was the chief guest and Additional Deputy Commissioner Kargil, Moses Kunzang was the guest of honour.
12 teams from allover Kargil participated in the 3-day event at Kapila Pashkum, where the tournament was organized at a natural Frozen Lake formation on Wakha River.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Department of Youth Services and Sports has to shift the venue due to non ice formation at the Ice Hockey Rink Khree Sultxan Choo Stadium, Kargil as the temperature was moderate this year due to global warming.
Haji Shafi appreciated the players for a displaying superb skills and urged them to participate more and more in sports and games.
He later-on distributed awards and trophies among the winners and runner-up teams.
District Youth Services and Sports Officer Kargil, District Officers and hundreds of spectators were also present on the occasion.
