Institutions, organizations celebrate Netaji’s birthday

JAMMU, Jan 23: Various institutions and organizations celebrated 118th Birth Anniversary of Netaji Subash Chander Bose in Jammu province, here today.
Netaji High School Vijaypur celebrated Netaji Subash Chander Bose’s birthday-cum-parents day to inculcate the spirit of patriotism and sacrifice among the people, particularly among the students.
Dr Nutan K Resutra, Chairman J&K Board of School Education was the chief guest on the occasion, while Dr Shafqat Rafiqi, Joint Secretary J&K Board of School Education Jammu and Prof Dr R K Vaid of Physics and Electronics Department, University of Jammu were the guests of honours.
After flag hoisting, the students of the school in their short speeches conveyed Netaji’s message of patriotism and sacrifice.
A colourful cultural programme of action songs and skits on national integration, unity in diversity and patriotism was presented.
The chief guest, Dr Resutra threw light on Netaji’s life and asked all to follow Netaji’s patriotism.
Director of the Institute, Amrit Lal Gupta laid stress on the need of following Netaji’s message and discussed achievements of the school.
Vivek Gupta, Principal of the School also spoke on the occasion.
Meanwhile, a colourful programme was organized at Mahesh Pura Chowk by the Volunteers of Netaji Subash Chander Bose Volunteers Association to celebrate the 118th birth anniversary of Netaji.
Chander Mohan Sharma, Suriender Singh Shingari and other volunteers of the Association including Ahok Kumar Sharma, Vinod Kumar Sharma, Ashok Dogra, Mohan Lal and Vijay Singh Pathania hoisted the National Flag and paid rich tributes to the great freedom fighter.
Sweets were distributed among the people on the occasion.
All India Students Federation (AISF) J&K unit remembered great freedom fighter Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary in Jammu University here.
While remembering his legendry contribution in the Independence Movement of the country, AISF President Comrade Mukesh Parihar said Bose was a revolutionary progressive and socialist leader with a vision. Comrade Parihar further added that Bose was against the Gandhian-Irwan Pact and hanging of Shaheed Bhagat Singh.
On the occasion number of students were present besides several AISF’s Activists including Prem Thakur, Sanjay Kotwal, Sunali Charak, Richa, Raj Kumar, Renu Bharti and Sunil Kumar,
Meanwhile the National Secular Forum (NSF) has demanded the change in nomenclature of Maheshpura Chowk in Bakshi Nagar after Netaji Subash Chander Bose as a mark of homage to the great freedom fighter.
NSF Jammu University (JU), president Qayoom Malik said that statute of Netaji has been erected at Maheshpura Chowk since long but till date local administration has not initiated any measure to change the nomenclature of the rotary after the name of great freedom fighter.
“Today on the birth anniversary of Netaji whole nation is paying tributes to him. Even, the people of Jammu are paying their homage to the person who shaped the freedom struggle of the country. This is a right moment to pay homage from our side by naming the rotary after the name of this leader,” he mentioned.
Among those who were present the press-conference included, Ajaz Shah, Anees Charak, JV Singh and Amit Sanotra.
