POONCH, Jan 28: Stadium XI will lock horns with Power House Hockey Club (PHHC) in the finals of junior boys’ category tomorrow in the ongoing District Poonch Hockey Championship, being organized by Hockey Poonch under the aegis of Hockey J&K, at Sports Stadium here.
Earlier, in the first semis, PHHC smashed Baba Banda Singh Bahadur Hockey Club (BBSBHC), whereas in the second semis played today, Stadium XI registered resounding win over Stadium Orange by 4-1 goals.
Before the start of the second semifinal match today, hundreds of spectators including sports lovers were seen approaching the Sports Stadium to cheer up for their favourite teams.
As expected it was a hard, tough and high voltage match of the Championship because players of both the teams are fully trained and have experience of playing various tournaments in the past too.
In the first half of the second semifinal match, players of both Stadium XI and Stadium Orange played mind games and restricted each other to score a goal.
However, in a break through Basharat of Stadium Orange netted the first goal of the match in the 24th minute and raised the scoreboard to 1-0.
Talvinder of Stadium XI after finding a gap netted the goal during the 25th minute and equalized the game by 1-1 goals.
The passionate Talvinder again bounced back and netted another goal in the second last minute of the first half and brought the Stadium Orange team players under pressure of 2-1 goals.
Tushar of Stadium XI also displayed marvelous skills and scored the goal in the last minute of the first half and raised the scoreboard to 3-1 goals.
The players of Stadium Orange strived hard to equalize the scorecard but failed and the first half ended with 3-1 goals.
In the second half, players of Stadium Orange started playing man to man marking game and restricted the players of Stadium XI to raise the scoreboard for around 15 minutes.
The enthusiastic player of Stadium XI namely Puneet with his excellent hockey skills and sense of playing scored the goal in the 46th minute and brought the opponent team under pressure of 4-1 goals.
The man to man marking game by the players of Stadium Orange failed to show any good results, which in other words proved beneficial for the Stadium XI, which entered into the finals of the Championship by winning the match by 4-1 goals.
The match was officiated by Rohit Sharma, Vikas Sharma, Mukesh Kumar, NIS Hockey coach and Pawan Kumar, NIS Hockey Coach.
The semifinal match was witnessed by Sarla Bakshi, Incharge, District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO), Poonch, whileas Nirdosh Sharma, Incharge, Sports Stadium Poonch, Narjeet Singh, ZPEO, Zone Nangali were also present.
The championship is being organized under the supervision of Sham Lal Sharma, retd SAI Hockey coach and Vice-President of Hockey J&K.
