19 ‘baratis’ injured in bus accident

RAJOURI, Feb 1: At least 19 persons were injured, two of them seriously when a bus carrying marriage party members skidded of the road and fell into a gorge near Bathuni on Nowshera-Rajouri road this afternoon.
A police spokesman said that the mishap took place at around 4.50 pm when the mini-bus, bearing registration No. JK02H/9517 was carrying members of marriage party from Dangri to Bathuni village. As it reached near Bathuni, the driver lost control over the speeding vehicle  and it rolled into a gorge.
While the driver escaped from the spot, the conductor Rajesh Singh of Swari village got injured and was also hospitalized along with other injured persons. Immediately after the mishap, Army men from the nearby unit and police jawans led by SHO Rajouri Yash Jamwal and DySP Hqrs, Rajouri  Hamid Choudhary reached the spot and shifted 15 injured   to District Hospital Rajouri while four to Army Hospital.
Two seriously injured  Nek Alam, son of  Mohd Hussain of Dassal and Imtiaz Ahmed, son of Mir Hussain of Barthuni  were referred to GMC Hospital Jammu. Some of the injured were discharged after providing first aid at district hospital. The police has taken cognizance of the matter.
