SAMBA, Feb 1: To save the youth from social evils and educate them about their physical and mental health, Jai Baba Santokh Nath Environment and Sports Committee, Smailpur, today organized two cricket matches at Pandit Prem Nath Stadium, here.
The first match was played between BRRS Cricket Club and JCC Birpur. Batting first after winning the toss, JCC scored 76 runs in allotted 20 overs. The main scorer for JCC Birpur was Sanjay (23 runs) while Anku contributed 11 runs to the total. For BRRS Cricket Club, Anku and Rajan took 3 wickets each in their 4-over spell.
In reply, BRRS Cricket Club easily chased the target and won the match by 5 wickets. Sunny scored 27 runs while Anku scored 17 runs for BRRS Cricket Club.
Anku Manhas was declared man of the match for his brilliant performance with both bat and ball.
Another match was played between UCC and ECC. ECC won the toss and decided to field first. Batting first, UCC scored 138 runs in stipulated 20 overs. The main scorers for UCC were Gora with 44 runs and Sikka with 34 runs. For ECC, Bablu took 2 wickets in 4 overs.
In reply, ECC failed to chase the target and thus lost the match by 45 runs. Saini top scored with 27 runs while and Sunny contributed 13 runs to the total.
Gora was declared man of the match.
The match was officiated by Vishwa Nand Chalotra and Ajeet Singh. Rohit was the scorer while Sham Lal Tandotra and Ajit Singh acted as umpires.
