PHE employees appeal Governor to release wages

UDHAMPUR, Feb 2: The executive body meeting of PHE Employees Association for districts of Udhampur and Reasi was held at PH Complex here under the chairmanship of Som Nath, strongly condemned the concerned PHE authorities for not releasing wages of workers for the past 22 to 28 months.
While addressing Som Nath, senior vice president, Jammu province, appealed the Governor N N Vohra to get the genuine demands of the workers met with. He also appealed the workers and employees of the PHE Department to be ready for agitation incase their demands were not settled at an earliest.
The other demands discussed during the executive body meeting pertained to immediate measures to meet the shortage of staff to man the new water supply schemes, as only new schemes have been formulated without any provision of requisite staff; Implementation of Minimum Wages Act; Enhancement in daily wage rate to Rs 400; Change of designation according to nature of job being performed by workers; Release of DA installments due to employees from January 2014; and Settlement of General Provident Fund drawal cases in treasuries.
