JAMMU, Feb 2: The president, All J&K Passengers’ Welfare Association today appealed the Governor of The State and Secretary, Transport Department to immediately reduce the passengers’ fare by 40 percent in first instant and then to convene a meeting to address the grievances of passengers.
In separate letters to Governor and Secretary Transport, the president RC Sharma demanded that 40 percent reduction in fare is eminent at first instance and after that more reduction can be done as petrol and diesel prices have abruptly come down but transporters are fleecing the poor passengers in broad day light.
He asked the Governor to intervene in this matter and to save the poor commuters from the clutches of shameless transporters. He said that passengers are being harassed by the drivers and conductors so there should be a complete accountability to curb this menace. He said that there is no proper time table fixed by the transporters and people were seen suffering at late hours.
Earlier a meeting of All J&K Passengers’ Welfare Association was held and authorized the president to write a letter to Governor and Secretary Transport. The Association also shifted the office from Janipur to Hotel India Pride for conveyance of people.
