JAMMU, Feb 4: Jammu West Assembly Movement (JWAM) activists held a protest against failure of the Government to solve the rising traffic problem in the Jammu city, particularly of Jammu West Constituency, today.
The protest rally led by JWAM president Sunil Dimple against the concerned authorities for not reducing fare and freight charges.
Addressing the demonstration Sunil Dimple threatened to start the Jan Andolan if within one week Government did not hold a high level meeting and take decisions for the construction of fly overs at Rehari Chungi, Jewel Chowk, Circular Roads and parking places to solve the traffic problem and to reduce the passengers fares.
Sunil Dimple also demanded Governor N N Vohra to chair the meeting of all the departments and take immediate decision on the traffic problem and to reduce the transport fares as diesel rates have come down and the fare of passenger vehicles should also be re fixed as weaker section people, students, daily regular passengers and employees are facing lot of problems due to heavy fares.
He also demanded the Government for construction of alternative four way circular road from Ambphalla Manda to High Court Janipur to Roop Nagar, Bantalab and Jewal Chowk to Talab Tillo via Bhagwati Nagar, Canal Road to ease the traffic rush problem on the Ambphalla, New Plot, Janipur, Bantalab Road as also on canal road. Other present were Dr Sham Saroop, Pappu Virdi, Swarn Lal, Vinod Suri, Mohinder Kumar, Kala Singh, Kusam Singh, Balak Ram Angral, Rajinder Gupta, Kusam Singh, Harbans Tondon and Sanjay Nagraj.
