Nehru conducts tour, reviews progress on upcoming colonies

JAMMU, Feb 5: Secretary Housing and Urban Development Department, Satesh Nehru today conducted a hectic tour of various areas of Jammu including Keran, Kot Bhalwal, Roop Nagar, Muthi and Paloura  to take stock of development activities and projects undertaken by Jammu Development Authority and Jammu Municipal Corporation.
During the tour, he inspected the ongoing works of development of colonies at Roop Nagar, Kot Bhalwal and construction of shopping complex and vegetable market at Muthi and shopping lines  in different locations in the areas of Jammu city. He directed the officers to accelerate the pace of execution of these projects, so as to complete these projects within stipulated time to avert any cost escalation. He cautioned the Superintending Engineer and Executive Engineer, JDA that in no case the escalation of cost will be permitted and the officers shall be held personally responsible for any revision of cost on account of delay of the projects.
He also visited Keran for taking account of the progress of demarcation of JDA land being carried out jointly by the Revenue Department and officers of JDA, and issued on spot directions that the land be taken over immediately and developed for appropriate use by the JMC and JDA.
During the course of inspection, he also issued instructions to speed up the work of car parking near Fortune Riviera and also explore possibility of making it multi-level parking and submit the plan. He further gave instructions to DLM to ensure that all encroachments are removed from the colonies of Kot Bhalwal, Roop Nagar and Birpur and asked Vice Chairman JDA to get the developmental works expedited in these colonies, so that the possession of plots to the allottees is handed over at the earliest.
He also asked to get the revenue papers and site plan prepared for the colonies at different places like vacant areas adjoining Kot Bhalwal colony and other locations, where the land belongs to JDA is lying unused, so as to generate the revenue as well as address the problem of housing colonies.
Vice Chairman, JDA, Mubarak Singh, Chief Town Planner JDA,  Hamid Ahmed Wani, Director Land Management, JDA S. Gurvinder Jeet Singh, Superintendent Engineer, JDA  Roop Lal Angurana and other officers accompanied the Secretary to Govt. Housing and Urban Development Department.
Later, he also had detailed review of the progress of ongoing schemes and works in his office chamber with Vice Chairman and other senior officers of JDA and impressed upon the officers to expedite the works and also keep strict vigil to safeguard the property of the Jammu Development Authority.
