Palak wins gold, silver; Mitali clinches 2 bronze medals

JAMMU, Feb 5: Continuing their winning spree in the prestigious 35th National Games being held at Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, the ace gymnasts of Jammu and Kashmir bagged 4 medals with one gold, one silver and two bronze, today.
Golden girl Palak Kour bagged gold in individual apparatus champion with ball event and clinched silver in individual all-round finals, while gritty and gutsy Mitali Dogra claimed bronze medals in individual apparatus champion with ball and club events.
Chef-de-mission of Jammu and Kashmir National Games contingent, HS Gill said that the State gymnasts have come to the expectations of the Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council, J&K Olympic Association and the people of the State.
The gymnastics team is being accompanied by SP Singh and Krupali Singh as coaches, while prominent among others present on the occasion were deputy chef-de-mission, S S Gill, president JKOA, S Rangil Singh and general secretary JKOA, Dr Ashutosh Sharma.
The State is hopeful of bagging more medals in the disciplines of wushu, fencing and kayaking & Canoeing etc.
