Irena, Rustum clinch gold

SAMBA, Feb 6:  Sunny Irena of Kerala secured 316 points in four rounds of one minute each and got 1st position to claim gold medal, while in boys section Rustum of Delhi bagged gold by securing 424/233 points in a close contest with Anand Kushwaha of Uttar Pradesh in a tie breaker during the ongoing 60th National School Games in Speedball Under-19 boys and girls, organized by Department of Youth Services and Sports at 17 Miles NH-1, here.
The tournament is being organized under the chairmanship of Navin Agarwal, Director General Youth Services and Sports J&K.
Earlier, in girls section, Gaytri Devi of Delhi remained on 2nd place by securing 282 points in four rounds of one minute each and got silver medal in the stipulated time of 4 minutes, while Nehasul of Maharashtra and Sukdeep Kour of Punjab shared bronze medal by securing 269 points and 254 respectively in stipulated 4 minutes.
Anand Kushwaha of Uttar Pradesh won silver medal in boys section, while B Anil Yadav of Telangana and Bhagat Vishrut of Gujarat shared bronze medal by securing 406 and 374 points respectively in the stipulated time of 4 minutes.
In Under-19 girls doubles semifinal, G Ravali and Gillala Ruchitha of Kerala beat Sonali Bhosale and Vedangi Kadam of Maharashtra by 2-1 sets, while in another semifinal, Aastha Negi and Anjli Raj of Delhi got better of Aditi Bhati and Yamini of C B S E by 2-1 sets.
In Under-19 girls doubles final, Ravali and Gillala Ruchitha of Kerala defeated Aastha Negi and Anjli Raj of Delhi by 2-1 sets.
In Under-19 boys semifinal, Arvind and Vipen of Kerala trounced J Naresh and M Tarun of Telangana by 2-1 sets, while in another semifinal, Deepak and Afzal Shah of Delhi drubbed Piyush and Rahul of Chhattisgarh by 2-0 sets.
