POONCH, Feb 7: District Poonch Veteran Athletic Championship commenced at Sports Stadium, here today.
Thirty veteran athletes participated in the Meet in seven events including 100 mtrs, 200 mtrs, 400 mtrs, long jump, shot put, discus throw and javelin throw.
In 100 mtrs, Rajinder Singh bagged gold, while in 200 mts and 400 Munir Hussian and Mustaq Ahmed claimed gold medals respectively.
In long jump, Naresh Chander won gold, while in shot put, KL Sharma got gold medal. In discus throw, Amarjit Singh claimed gold and in jalvelin throw, Balbir Singh clinched gold.
The Meet was organized by District Veteran Athletic Association Poonch in collabration with district unit of the State Sports Council, while Sarla Bakshi from Youth Services and Sports Department was the chief guest.
