KATHUA, Feb 8: Defeating their rivals convincingly in the semifinal battles, the strong sides of Saabi Cricket Club Hoshiarpur and AMCC Gurgaon have made it to the finals of the ongoing 5th Police Martyrs Memorial North Zone Inter-Club T20 Cricket Championship at Sports Stadium, here today.
The first semifinal match of the Championship was played between J&K Police XI Srinagar and Saabi Cricket Club Hoshiarpur, while the second semifinal match was played between KCCC Jammu and AMCC Gurgaon.
In the first semifinal, J&K Police XI Srinagar won the toss and elected to bat first. The whole team was bundled out for a paltry total of 91 runs in 19 overs. Jalil Ahmed (21) off 22 balls and Ishtiaq (16) off 19 balls were the main contributors. For Saabi Club, Chetan scalped 4 important wickets by conceding 19 runs in his 4 overs, while Gopi and Abhinav claimed 2 wickets each.
In reply, the Saabi Cricket Club Hoshiarpur chased the target in 17.2 overs by losing 5 wickets, thus won the match by 5 wickets. Naam Dev and Kashish contributed 22 runs each, while Sunj contributed 20 runs to the total. For JKP XI, Aditya Jain took 2 wickets, while Abid Nabi claimed one. Chetan who took 4 wickets by giving away 19 runs in 4 overs was declared man of the match and was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 5100 and a trophy.
Meanwhile, in the second semifinal, KCCC Jammu winning the toss and batting first, scored a modest total of 100 runs in the stipulated 20 overs by losing 9 wickets in the process. Pardeep Bali top scored with 25 runs off 31 balls, whiile Manik Gupta contributed with 23 runs off equal number of balls. Bandeep Singh also chipped in with unbeaten 15 runs. For AMCC, Sunil Dalal took 3 wickets, while Kandrill and Sonu Rathi bagged 2 and one wickets respectively.
In reply, the AMCC Gurgaon chased the target in 14.5 overs by losing 4 wickets, thus won the match by 6 wickets. Manoj (39) and Raman (20) were the main scorers. For KCCC, Raman Dutta and Manik Gupta claimed one wicket each. Sunil Dalal who scored 10 runs and took 3 wickets by giving away 13 runs in his 4 overs was declared as man of the match and was awarded with a cash prize of Rs 5100 and a trophy.
