JAMMU, Feb 9: 2nd J&K State Sambo Championship for boys and girls, being held under the banner of J&K Sambo Association got underway at Shastri Memorial School Patoli, here today.
Shamsher Singh Manhas, Member of Parliament was the chief guest on the occasion, who alongwith the guest of honour, Sat Sharma, MLA and president Silambam Association of J&K inaugurated the event in an impressive function.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Bhanu Jasrotia, vice president, District Jammu;Vikas Gupta, joint secretary Judo Federation of India; chief coach Suraj Bhan Singh, Amrik Singh, Krishan Sambyal, Parminder Singh, Sukhvinder Singh and Rajiv Sharma.
The bouts were officiated by Akhil Badkuliya, Kawaljeet Singh, Komal Gupta and Rahil Shafi.
Earlier, in Under-7 girls 12 kg category, Akshita and Jasmine Bhavika bagged first and second places respectively, while Kanika Sharma and Partagiya shared third place, while in 15 kg category, first place was bagged by Bahvya Jamwal, while Rakshita bagged second spot and third place was shared by Partigya and Harnoor Kour.
In 20 kg, first place went to Prakshika Kotwal, second to Prizam Singh and third to Saaz and Jigyasa Bakshi, Utkarshi Kesar and Prisha also clinched first and second place respectively, while Jeevika and Sonia won third place.
Manya got first place, Smridhi second, while the third place was shared by Deevanshi and Trambika.
Under-12 girls: In 25 kg , first Palak Sharma, second Payal and Akiriti, Nitika (both third).
In 22 kg: First, Anisha; second, Gurleen Kour, and third Sakshi and Harshita.
In 35 kg: First, Nihariak Sharma; Second Mahi and third Vanshika Bagat and Vishali.
In 35 kg: First, Mahi Kapoor, second, Kamakshi and third Sonika, while In 40 kg open: First, Ashwina Bhat, second, Riya and third Bhawana Hans and Khushi Gupta.
Under 17 girls:
In 40 kg, Sonali was adjudged as first followed by Arti as second, while the thrid place went to Taniya and Kajal.
Similarly, in 45 kg category, first place was bagged by Arpan, followed by Komal as second, while Palak and Anu claimed third spot.
In 50 kg, the first place went to Neha, while Madhvi got second and the third place was shared by Arti and Shivani.
In open category, the first spot was clinched by Tanishka Jamwal and the second by Irem, while the third place was won by Sakshi Sharma and Jyoti Jamwal.
