Drug peddler, bootlegger arrested

RAMBAN, Feb 9: Police today arrested a drug peddler and a bootlegger from Banihal and bus-stand Ramban respectively.
As per police sources, on specific inputs, police team from Banihal police station led by SHO Tariq Naik intercepted a pedestrian near Nachlana bridge on suspicious grounds.
During checking, police recovered 400 grams of charas and arrested the accused, who has been identified as Abdul Qayoom, son of Shamas Din of Nachlana Talab.
A case under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at police station Banihal and investigation started.
Meanwhile, police team from Ramban police station led by SHO Inspector Ajay Chib arrested a bootlegger along with 25 pouches of illicit liquor from bus-stand Ramban.
The accused has been identified as Rakesh Kumar, son of Harbans Lal of Ramsoo.
A case under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered at Ramban police station and investigation started.
