JAMMU, Feb 10: Kashmir United Football Club defeated Novelty Football Club Srinagar in a thrilling contest of Soccer Championship held at GGM Science College ground, here. Earlier, the match was tied with two goals each by both teams in the stipulated time. Then the decision of the match was only possible in sudden death, after the match drew in tie-breaker also.
A cash prize of Rs 15,000 was presented to the winning team. Ishan of Kashmir United was adjudged as the best player of the tournament and he was awarded with a special trophy. The trophies were also presented to the winners and the runner-up teams on the occasion.
The match was officiated by Harnit Singh, Ranjay Kumar, Javed Ahmed and Bilal Ahmed, while the proceedings of the valedictory function were conducted by R P Singh and Victor Sotra.
The tournament was held by Police in collaboration with Christian Sports organization. Shakeel Ahmed Beig, DIG Jammu-Samba-Kathua Range was the chief guest and Fr. Kuriakose, chairman, Christian Sports Organization presided over the function.
