JAMMU, Feb 23: Jammu and Kashmir Police is hosting 4th All India Police Martyr’s (AIPM) Hockey Tournament at Jammu from March 10, 2015 and would last for eight days.
The championship would be played at K K Hakku Stadium in Jammu city under the aegis of All India Police Sports Control Board and conclude on March 14, 2015.
As many as 12 national level teams from different states and central police organizations of the country are participating in the eight days long championship, which include CRPF, SSB, CISF, Punjab Police, BSF Jalandhar, EME Eleven Jalandhar, Army Corps Signal, Punjab and Sindh Bank, Namdari Eleven Sirsa and J&K Hockey Eleven besides Jammu and Kashmir Police.
This was disclosed by the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Armed S. M. Sahai, while finalizing championship arrangements at a senior police officers meeting here at Armed Police Headquarters today.
Mr. Sahai said that JKP is organising various state and national level tournaments in the State every year aimed to promote sports culture, besides providing opportunities to the talented persons in the sports arena.
During the meeting various committees were constituted for ensuring foolproof arrangements to make the championship a successful event.
Mr Sahai directed the committee heads to supervise the arrangements personally and ensure that no loophole is left in the arrangements.
The ADGP emphasised to identify the most talented players of the department in the hockey discipline, who could represent the Organization in the national level event. He said that the team should be put on continuous practice making them able to compete in the championship and fetch glory to the Organization.
The meeting discussed Security related arrangements, venue, traffic and parking of vehicles also.
Among others, the meeting was attended by IGPs, HK Lohia, SJM Geelani, Rajesh Kumar, Mukesh Singh and SA Watali, DPT, Hilal Ahmed, SSP, Jammu Uttam Chand, AIG (Welfare), Rajeshwar Singh, SSPs, Sham Sunder,  Mubasir Latifi, RK Angral and Mohan Lal,  Commandants, Rashmi Wazir, Anita Sharma, Tabasum Parveen, Atul Sharma, Secretary JKHA, GS Bakshi, Medical Superintendent of Police Hospital, Dr. Kirti Sharma and Jammu based Commandants.
