JKCCTU holds protest rallies highlighting demands

JAMMU, Feb 24:  Highlighting their demands, employees and workers held protest rallies, demonstrations and general body meetings at the District headquarters throughout the State on Tuesday.
The protest demonstrations were organized under the banner of Jammu and Kashmir Co-ordination Committee of Trade Unions (JKCCTU). Shouting slogans, the protesting workers and employees also submitted memorandum of demands to the  respective Deputy Commissioners.
The protesting employees were demanding withdrawal of National Pension Act and extending defined benefit pension to all irrespective of their date of appointment, regularization of  the services of temporary and casual workers, strict implementation of  Labour laws, merger of 50 percent DA into basic pay, filling up all vacancies by regular appointments and immediate release of pending installments of DA.
At Jammu, the protest demonstration held near the Press Club and the workers were led by JKCCTU general secretary Gurmeet Singh who accused the Government of being anti-working class. The rally was also addressed by Jasbir Singh, Ram Kumar Sharma, Rukhsana, Surinder Sharma, Mukhtiar Ahmed, Satpal Singh, Ajaybahadar Singh, Thodu Ram Chowdhary, Arvinder Singh and others.
Similar rallies and demonstrations were held in Kashmir and other district headquarters.
