JAMMU, Feb 26: The Director General of Police (DGP), K Rajendra Kumar today felicitated 19 sportspersons of Jammu and Kashmir Police, who have shown outstanding performances in different disciplines during the year 2014.
Speaking on the felicitation function held at Armed Police Complex here today, Mr. Rajendra highlighted the importance of sports in the physical and mental development of youth. He said  that discipline and sportsmanship make the youth to utilise their energies for the betterment of the people, hone their talent in different capacities.
The sports persons felicitated included wushu coach  Kuldeep Handoo, volleyball coach Sajjad Hussain, boxing coach Satyakam Sharma, International fencer Rashid Ahmad, Mountaineers Ram Singh and Stanzin Youthok, wrestling coach Om Prakash, International Kayaks Zahoor Ahmad, Adil Mohi-u-Din and Pervez Ahmad, water sports coach Farooq Ahmad, wrestlers Binia Amin and Roshan Sharma, lady pugilists  Khalida Bano, Anju Bala, Asha Jamwal, Rajni Devi, Wushuist Kamal Kishore and power lifting player Manoj Singh.
Earlier, the ADGP (Armed), S M Sahai thanked the DGP for felicitating the sportspersons and said that it would encourage them to enhance their capabilities for future events.
